Go to salary.com and search for a job that sounds as much as possible like what you are doing and the training/education you have. That should give you a rough estimate of the type of earnings you could likely expect. Most likely you will have Veteran’s preference for Federal jobs (as you know with the number of military installations in San Antonio there are a lot of civilian Federal government jobs too), possibly also with the state but I’m not sure about that.
Whether it’s a good job or not is really a matter of personal opinion; you would be a better judge of that than someone who hasn’t done that job, and it depends on what you mean by “good job.” Different people have different meanings for that term. For some, it just means making good money, for others, stability, for others, status, or personal fulfillment, or some combination.
